HEC Paris claims the top position of the 2020 Financial Times ranking of the world’s best Master's in Finance (pre-experience) programs!
Top 5 = 100% French!
Along with HEC Paris claiming the top spot, four other French business schools (ESCP Business School, Skema Business School, Essec Business School, and Edhec Business School) complete the top five places in the ranking of over fifty institutions from across the globe. This is the second consecutive year that France has taken the top five places in the MiF rankings.
According to the FT, some of the probable reasons for France's excellent standing in the rankings include a long history of running MiF programs, good connections with the finance sector, and relatively low fees.
Completing the nine French business schools in the 2020 MiF rankings are Grenoble Ecole de Management (16th rank), Neoma Business School (21st), EM Lyon (27th), and Rennes School of Business (29th).
*Note: These pre-experience programs are directed to students with little or no professional experience.
Criteria for evaluation
The FT considers several elements in coming up with the yearly ranking, which are:
- the quality/price ratio of the program,
- the duration of the program,
- the average salary of graduates three years after graduating,
- employability after graduation,
- the international dimension of the program and school,
- the percentage of full-time teachers holding of a PhD
