2023 Scholarship Programs for Filipino Students

Students

Continue reading to find out more about three scholarships that France has in store for Filipinos in 2023: the Eiffel Excellence program, the PhilFrance scholarship, and the PhilFrance-DOST scholarship.

France has always taken pride in being one of the best academic destinations for international students. Partial and complete financial aid programs are offered yearly by academic institutions, third-party organizations, and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

This year, we featured eleven students who were able to begin their academic journey in France under three state-offered programs: the Eiffel Excellence program, the PhilFrance scholarship, and the PhilFrance-DOST.

Annilyn Bustamante and Karl Vincent Alvarez are this year's only Eiffel Excellence awardees from the Philippines. The Eiffel Excellence is an annual merit-based, competitive scholarship offered by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign affairs to students in master and doctorate-level studies.

Conceived six years ago, the PhilFrance program offers two distinct scholarships for prospecting Filipino students every year. Ralph Romeo Ferolino, a student in migration studies, and Rodalyn Apple Ariola, currently taking food politics, are the awardees of the PhilFrance master's scholarship. This program, which is the first of two being offered under the PhilFrance label, is awarded to exceptional students applying for master's degrees across multiple disciplines.

The second PhilFrance program, the PhilFrance-DOST, is done in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology. The PF-DOST supports master and doctorate students in the hard sciences and requires applicants to create a research project in alignment with their chosen degrees. Eight Filipino students are now among France's researchers, thanks to the PF-DOST: Kristine Abenis (Biology), Breix Michael Agua (Statistics), Jasper Arbois (Biomedical engineering), Rudolph Valentino Docot (Plant systemics), Den Whilrex Garcia (Neurosciences), Jan Nino Tinio (Statistics), Michael Vincent Tubog (Risk management), and Ma. Malyn Tumonong (Risk management).
